Encounter with nature

Monday, as you all know, was Columbus Day. Being a government employee, I was able to have the day off...one of the few days I get off. So me, my wife, and my son decided to make the most of it. So we decided to go for a ride through the Metroparks. We stopped and took a little walk while my wife took some pictures of the trees. Also during our trip, we stopped at the Rocky River Nature Center. We had fun there, Gabey played around, and we picked up some information for upcoming events. As we headed out and back to the car, I looked over and received a shock! I spotted a rare silver-headed fire hydrant sitting right by the walkway! Luckily, and amazingly, it sat there long enough to snap a picture. My wife Shari actually took this picture, but I'm claiming the credit because I spotted it. I think I'm realizing a new calling. Look for me on one of those fancy nature shows soon.

Anyways, when we reached the end of the Parkway, we turned around and stopped at the mall for a short time. The time at the mall was mostly spent sitting and watching Gabey run around in the kids play area of the mall. I loved it! Having a family is so awesome. It's all I've ever wanted. Even when I was little, all I wanted was a wife and children. Now that I have both, everything else is just icing on the cake. I hope all of you who read this, and have families, that you enjoy them. The spouses and children we have truly are gifts from God!

So that was our trip! We did some active things, but made sure we did quite a bit of relaxing/casual stuff. It is now 4 days before we leave on vacation....and I can't wait.

Going to the park is such a fun thing to do. We are so lucky to have the metro parks.
